Aaron Walker is a professional musician and keyboard player with over 15 years of live performance and compositional experience. His roots began with classical piano lessons at age 11 with virtuoso pianist, Gina Crabbs out of Peabody Conservatory. Though he loved playing Bach, Mozart and Beethoven, all favorites of his teacher, his true passion for music was sparked by his brother:
“My brother showed me my first blues scale and that was it, I realized I could create my own melodies, which eventually developed into writing compositions and an all around love for creating and playing music.”
After gaining experience performing with other musicians in his middle school and high school jazz bands, Aaron went on to form a band of his own. With The Dulcets, Aaron found his first true creative outlet and gained real-life performance experience, opening for local and regional acts at a young age.
At James Madison University, Aaron took electives in Jazz Improv, jazz history, and performed in a Jazz Sextet with a residency at a local Cafe. Simultaneously, Aaron was writing and performing with college friends in a hip-hop group called Blatant Vibe. During his senior year, he went on tour to Montreal, Canada with the funk brigade known as Midnight Spaghetti.
In the 10 years since college, Aaron has performed in a variety of bands, most notably his own, Greasy Hands, an amalgam of Rock, psychedelia, and progressive styles, as well as MC Bravado, a live hip-hop group with recent spots opening for Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony and Scarface.
As a producer, composer, and active member of the Baltimore music community, Aaron strives to discover what motivates and inspires his students while focusing on a combination of repetition, discipline, and the rewards that come with it.
