DRUMS

pete1.JPG

Peter Krutschnitt took up drums at age 9, when his older sister was gifted a drum set and forbid him to play it. Originally from Ohio, Pete holds a B.A. in Percussion Performance from Marietta College, and performs widely.

An energetic and varied player, Pete likes to take full advantage of percussion’s versatility to play in marimba orchestras, pit orchestras, an NFL drum line, cover bands, jazz/funk groups and original projects, live and in the studio. He recorded a full-length album with Big Hoax, a group that received honorable mention in NPR’s 2015 Tiny Desk Concert series. In his spare time, he enjoys creating arrangements for his drum-and-MalletKat fusions (playing drum set and mallet percussion together).

He currently performs in Americana, funk, and pop-rock groups, namely Row Homes, his main project. He has been teaching drum set, concert, and marching percussion since 2009. Pete is a personable teacher who uses a combination of literature, new music, and classic technique-building exercises to design an engaging approach for each student.
