Jefferson Hirshman is a passionate professional guitarist local to Baltimore City. With years of experience as a guitar teacher, performer, sideman, songwriter and bandleader, Jefferson is able to mentor a variety of ambitions and passions. Jefferson is an enthusiast of progressive rock, jazz, midwest emo, funk, r&b, math rock and shoegaze, as well as a UMBC alum, with dual degrees in Jazz Studies and Music Technology.
Some of his favorite bands/artists include Queens of the Stone Age, Chon, Paramore, King Crimson, Pat Metheny, TTNG, Cory Wong, Pink Floyd, Sweet Pill, Deftones, RX Bandits and many other artists of diverse genres. Jefferson has a passion for versatility as a guitarist, excited to prepare aspiring musicians for the realities of the gigging world. Besides essential guitar playing skill and technique, as well as what the student is passionate about, Jefferson teaches music industry knowledge, improvisation, tone shaping, recording and reading music if this interests the student. Jefferson currently leads Baltimore progressive rock band Love For Strangers, and works as a professional gigging guitarist in a variety of situations, including as a pit musician in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
